Mirror, Mirror on the Wall…

Phoebe Anne MoseyWho are the biggest hypocrites of all? The left wing liberals would have you believe that all Christians qualify for that label, and they gleefully seize on any ethical or moral failing of anyone who espouses Christian values to prove it. But what if we apply that same standard to the liberals among us? Most Christians, regardless of their own personal failings or those of their leaders, are willing to put their money where their mouth is for the principles and policies that they believe in. Are the liberals willing to do the same?

After trying and failing to convince the American public that spending money that we don’t have on a program that we can’t afford is the right course of treatment for our ailing economy, the Obamacrats are now arguing that passing universal healthcare is a “moral imperative”. The same man who told the world that we are not a Christian Nation is trying to enlist the Christian Leadership to push policies that their parishioners have rejected.

Organizing for America has issued an appeal to it’s standing army to canvass and promote Universal Health Care. When will they start organizing the Obamacrats to volunteer their time in free clinics and hospitals that treat the indigent? They have sent their purple shirted political operatives to town halls to carry signs and shout down opposing opinions. When will they send them to carry bedpans and minister to the sick and needy?

We have been told by everybody and their grandson that Universal Health Care was “the great cause of Teddy Kennedy’s life”. When will the articles that give the glowing details of the will that left the bulk of Kennedy’s estate to that cause outnumber the articles asking the rest of us to pay for it? When will we see the rest of the Kennedy clan, and their high-profile political friends use their star power and their campaign donation lists to raise money for organizations that provide treatment to juvenile cancer patients and burn victims, regardless of their ability to pay? When will we see the purple shirters holding donation buckets on the street corners and manning the phone banks during telethons?

The Obamacrats have used everything that they have in their bag of tricks, from the race card to the sympathy ploy, to try to sell this to the American people. The answer of the majority has been, and still is, “NO”. Instead of making plans to shove it down our throats, maybe they should consider practicing what they preach, and leading by example. Before they start telling the rest of us what our moral imperatives are, or should be, they should show us what theirs are with concrete identifiable actions. If they cannot or will not do that, the next time they feel the urge to call Christians or anybody else hypocrites, they should take a good long look in the first available mirror.

“Perhaps you and I have lived with this miracle too long to be properly appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom, and then lost it, have never known it again.”
